Richard (Rick) Burchfield began his sobriety journey in 1994 after 16 years of alcoholism. After 8 years of sobriety, he decided to go back to school and received his bachelor’s in business administration in 2003 and furthered his education by receiving his master’s degree in education while receiving his Professional Counseling Degree from Lindsey Wilson College in 2009. While in school, he worked in residential treatment until I graduated where he found his passion. He has counseled in outpatient and residential treatment settings for more than 16 years. He provides lived experiences and education to the detoxification and residential units. He also shares his experiences, strengths, and hope with the newcomer, so they know that there is light at the end of the tunnel, that they can recover if they choose to. “Sobriety is a lifelong journey of true happiness for me and saving lives one day at a time makes this the greatest job on earth.,” he shares with us.
