What to Bring to Inpatient Treatment

Prepping to enter a residential treatment program for SUDs can be overwhelming. Many clients are curious about what they need to bring to inpatient treatment at kathy ireland® Recovery Centers and what they should leave at home. Get the full list below.
What should I bring with me?
  • Insurance card/insurance prescription card
  • Emergency contact information
  • Sealed hygiene items (NO ALCOHOL CONTENT IS PERMITTED)
    • Shampoo
    • Conditioner
    • Body soap
    • Deodorant
    • Brush/comb
    • Feminine hygiene products
    • Toothbrush
    • Toothpaste
    • Shower cap
    • Razors for shaving
  • Wristwatch (No internet, photographic/recording capability permitted)
  • Writing journal/notebook
  • Bible or other religious text (if preferred)
  • AA Book (if you own one)
  • Clothing items (no more than 8 outfits for residential & 4 outfits for detox)
    • Slacks
    • Jeans (no holes or sagging)
    • Dresses (no higher than 4″ above the knee)
    • T-shirts (no logos)
    • Sweatshirt or light jacket, in winter consider bringing layers as it can get quite cold
    • Workout attire
    • Socks
    • Undergarments
  • Shoes
    • Tennis shoes or boots/closed-toed shoes
  • Reading glasses, if needed
  • Pre-rolled cigarettes in unopened packs (35-day supply)
  • Chewing tobacco in unopened packs (35-day supply)
  • Electronic cigarettes/vapes & sealed e-juice (35-day supply)
  • Driving your personal vehicle to the faciilty is a last resort. If there is no other option, the vehicle may stay at the facility for no longer than 72 hours. A relative or friend must be contacted within that timeframe to pick up the vehicle. If you drive your car to the facility, keys must be turned into and always kept by staff.
What should I leave at home?
  • Cell phones
  • Laptops
  • Cameras
  • Portable MP3 players
  • Personal electronics of any kind with internet, photographic, and/or audio recording capabilities
  • Pets/Animals of any kind, unless the animal is a service animal – emotional support animals are not considered a service animal and are not permitted
  • Food
  • Cash
  • Credit/Debit cards
  • Unsealed hygiene items, cigarettes, e-juice
  • Pornography
  • Alcohol, marijuana, or any other illegal substances
  • Medications
    • Medications must be in prescription containers and have a current medical order. All medications, even if prescribed and in the proper container, must be approved by the Medical Director to be allowed.
    • All controlled substances will be destroyed in accordance with kathy ireland® Recovery Centers – Williamson policies
    • Any medications prescribed and discontinued during your stay will not be returned and will be disposed of in accordance with kathy ireland® Recovery Centers – Williamson policies
    • Upon discharge, your physician will determine the medications you will be discharged with. It is your responsibility to pick up medications approved by your physician, if any, prior to your departure; medication not picked up within 3 days will be destroyed; no medications will be mailed after your departure
  • Mouthwash/cologne/perfume/hand sanitizer
  • Expensive personal items such as jewelry, clothing, shoes, etc.
  • Clothing items with logos that are gang or drug related, shorts, tank tops, halter-tops, backless or low-cut clothing, no tight clothing of any kind
  • Open-toed shoes of any kind (Shoes must always cover the entire foot)
  • Hats or bandanas
  • Multiple suitcases/containers of belongings. The facility has very limited storage capacity. Please limit your belongings to only what is necessary.
  • Weapons or sharp objects of any kind

**Above listed items brought to the facility will be inventoried and stored or disposed of in accordance with kathy ireland® Recovery Centers – Williamson policies for the duration of the patient’s stay and returned upon discharge**
